This article is part of the question of the process of professionalization of teachers of the physical and chemical sciences and the sciences of life and the Earth in initial training. As a first step, the challenges and opportunities of initial training are discussed, with a focus on gaps and needs. Following, the same subject approach emphasizes the practical training of future teachers in schools and highlights the important issues for rational training.
