چکیده

The Rohingya people in Bangladesh who left their country, Myanmar, for persecution by the Myanmar Janta government, are operating enterprises in the Rohingya camps in Bangladesh, sometimes jointly establishing enterprises with Bangladeshi people. This study explores the economic entrepreneurship generated in the context of the Rohingya exodus to Bangladesh, whether inside or outside the camps. Two-stage clustered sampling was applied to select Rohingya enterprises from the Rohingya camps and host community enterprises from outside the camps. An Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression model was applied to measure the effects of socioeconomic variables on the profit of the enterprises. The results show that the economic activities of the Rohingya people in the camps are very unequal compared to those of the host community, and the profit is significantly lower for Rohingya entrepreneurs than for host community entrepreneurs. The study findings suggest that mobile banking accounts significantly increase the profit of enterprises for both communities.
