Cross-industry tourism is generally considered to be of particular importance for sustainable development. This is particularly evident in the effects of tourism activities, especially when learning a foreign language. Tourism scores with large employment effects and diverse income opportunities in interaction with many other economic sectors and thus with a diversification of the economic structure, especially in rural areas. The investigation was conducted on June 14, 2022. 17 locals were randomly selected through the survey. The aim of the research was to examine the attitudes of the indigenous people towards the importance of learning a foreign language for the sustainability of the island's development. The survey confirmed that learning a foreign language, especially English, is very important for the viability of tourism development.
